RECENT PROJECT

These clients came to us after deciding to remain in their current home and extend in a beautiful village location. They had already commissioned plans from a local architect but we got involved early which is always advisable where possible to help and advise further on the best window positions, all important roof light positions and the placement of a flush fitting ceiling extractor between the old joists and the new steel RSJ supports. This meant when building work began everyone was on the same page and  we all knew it would all knit together beautifully.
Electrical and plumbing supply plans were finalised between us and super-imposed by the architect onto the main plans along with the new lighting plan.

The choice of kitchen furniture manufacturer was very important as we needed a number of very bespoke tall cabinets that standard British and German manufacturers would not of been able to offer due to their limited portfolios. This is a common issue unless the right supplier is sourced! After seeing a number of our finished kitchens in situ the client decided to use Rempp Kuchen from Wilberg in Germany who will make totally bespoke units to order and the client also loved the build quality and design details on offer that they could not find from other companies they had seen such as stainless steel door edges, vented steel plinths and a very unique colour called Congo. One of Rempp Kuchens further strengths is they will supply a kitchen in any RAL colour!

Once a design was finalised we looked at appliance manufacturers. This can be a significant part of the budget so time and consideration should be spent on these hard working items. This time it was between Miele and Siemens with the client falling for the Siemens throughout as these were deemed far better value for money when the important features required were compared to the price and warranties on offer.

The worktops were then discussed at great length. The wet areas were done in a Du Pont Corian neutral concrete finish with matching flush fitting bowls, full 5mm recessed drainers and a gently coved up stand all around up to the window sill height. Very practical, easy to keep clean and looks always looks stunning. The island that has the induction hob so needed to be able to take heat from both the hob and ovens behind we did in a 30mm quartz and we decided to wrap the ends to give a very durable surface for the family and stops any family damage when using the kitchen, mopping the floors or vacuuming and is also very pet friendly. The chosen material was CaesarStone Shitake quartz. We decided on an Evo pop up socket with multiple charging points so that small hand appliances, laptops and mobiles could all be used whilst sitting or cooking at the island.

Leon and Harvey installed the kitchen over a 3 day period liaising with Maurice the electrician to wire in the numerous Siemens appliances as they went.

The glass splash backs were not templated until everything was in place and the clients could see the glass samples in situ with the worktop colours in place and the walls painted.
